and we go on....

the salsa dancing didn't happen or the bike ride as sal was too tired so i spent a couple of nights/days by myself with other people from the hostel. we went out drinking and dancing (where i ended up dancing "salsa" aka being flung round the dancefloor by a bald german bloke!) which was alot of fun. the fri i went to monte alban with a couple of people from the hostel - very pretty but quite similar to teotihualcan which we'd seen before. the beach was calling....

we decided to sign up for the bamba experience which is aa hop-on hop-off tour up to cancum and includes day trips etc. so far we've met some lovely people through it and got to visit beaches etc that we wouldn't have done if we'd gone independently (see lush photos!). on the way to puerto escondido we stopped at a cute little village at the top of the mountain which was so pituresque. unfortunately the windy roads back down did nothing to help full-bellies! puerto escondido was absolutely sweltering when we arrived so much so that as soon as you'd had a shower u were sweating lo9ads again. however the waves at the beach were enormous and such good fun, and we managed to try out a couple of beaches whilst we were there. however time is short so the next day we had a n amazing time visiting the southern most point in mexico ponte cometa (where it rained hot rain!!), had a fresh fish cooked for us on a beach (flies included), went to chipehua (loads of sand dunes) where I managed to fall flat on my face whilst running down a dune and ended up covered in sand (just what u want for the 10 hour night bus journey that followed1!!!!) and bamba beach just as the sun had set. very very pretty.

despite the sand-filled pants journey to san cristobal, it was fine on a really comfy coach and san cristobal where we are now is so pretty (an old colonial town). we had a really good but cheap lunch (very weird starter of tomato soup with cheese, cream, and tortilla chips in!!) in a pretty courtyard and might go and see some jazz later. off to agua azul waterfalls and misol-ha tmw then palenque. unfortunately the beach is calling again so the route to the caribbean is going to be fast!!!!
