After getting off the ferry we hopped on the DSB train in Hirtshals to make our way to Odense. The Danish trains are great. Lots of them, easy to hop on and off and they all have free wifi! Once in Odense Peter picked us up and we were off to Gyldensteen. It still looks much the same as it did 20 years ago, with the big exception that Peter and Nynne have converted the old office into a lovely home. They are also running a roadside cafe to sell cakes and all their farm products (apple juice, cider, beer, honey, onion compote). It is all amazing. What a great project. We met the adorable Clara. She is a very independent little lady; who knows how to leverage her charm to get what she wants. Franz and Vicky stopped by to welcome us and the next morning we got a grand tour of the estate from Vicky. There were still rooms I hadn't seen. Gabe and Em enjoyed the history and the secret passageways. It was a short visit, but so nice to catch up.
