We headed into Hue with our expectations high for nice weather in a pretty place, unfortunatly as we pulled into the station and saw rain we realised it was not what we were looking for. The place to see is the Citadel and royal palace type thing, most of which was bombed by the French in the 1950s war so not much. Our hotel was damp, everything was damp and horrible, i think we stayed in the wrong part of town as we struggled to find breakfast, in the end we had shrimp omlette, just what i want 1st thing in the morning! We walked around but as the weather was rubbish is kind of made everything rubbish so we left the next day for Hoi An. Hoi An is a UNESCO world heritage site and is very pretty, full of picturesqure wooden fronted shops and houses by a river. Its THE place to have tailor made clothes so Layne had a suit and a tuxedo made for 70 pounds and i had a dress (possibly fumpy now i look at it again) a jacket and shorts made for about 30 pounds, bargin! We visited the site of My Son which is another UNESCO cultural site but after seeing the Inca and Myan empires it was rubbish and very small. We were tempted to buy more clothes but Layne hit a problem when he realised that he had left his cash card in an ATM and had no way of getting it back. He lost his first one in South Africa (actually he put it in a safe place and then forgot about it so he cancelled it thinking it was lost and then found it again) so now Layne is living off the "allowance" i give him...better hope he's a good boy and isn't naughty! We then headed to Nha Trang on an overnight bus which was the scariest ride ever, crazy driver again and stuck in a crampt bunk. We went to a mud spa and floated in a mud bath before having various hot spas and jet powered showers, very relaxing. We had a boat trip around the islands in the bay which was nice but quite random and the crew had a boy band thing going on and performed a medley of songs, Layne tried to get drunk with some Russians to help the day along. The Vietnamese were amused when a passing group of aussies did a moonie and got the bullfrog out, pisskops. We did 2 morning scuba dives, we both lied about when we last dived and I felt like a real ametur, the visibility was crap but it was good to be back in the water. We had a fab roadside BBQ of lobster and shrimp and scallops, the lobster was MASSIVE and tasty and cheap, nice, IB would have loved it! The weather was much better and we did some sunbathing, gotta be brown for mums bday!
