Olympia
We headed north from Methoni, stopped briefly at Kakavatos, a small beachside town, for lunch then got a little lost on the way to Olympia. We visited some other very small Greek villages and one helpful fellow told us to keep going but when we reached the gravel road we decided to turn back! Olympia the site of the first Olympic Games is located south of the port of Partas, a starting point for bus loads of tourists from cruise ships. The site comprises one large competive area with turfed banks on either side for spectators, entry for the sports men by tunnel, many ceremonial sites for the gods, the main temple being for Zeus, exercise and practice areas and of course shops.
Returning from Olympia we passed through Kakavatos again on our way south looking for accommodation. T here are lots of little beaches but nothing of interest and no accommodation so back to Kakavatosand found the Sea View Hotel, fairly close to the centre of town but 400 metres to the beach. We drove for a swim, not a popular spot but a few teenagers having fun and the water was OK. Our accommodation was good but the friendly owner had a distinct lack of front teeth and his wife who served us breakfast the next morning also had little in the way of front teeth!

Heather Kepski Sounds like you're having fun! Getting lost is often a happy accident when you find things that bring great memories like people without front teeth! Love Heather & John
