Drove south and called in to Australia's capital Canberra. Funky architecture of all the different embassies. Couldn't really stop and the nights were starting to get really cold in our little campervan - unlike Queensland the freebie camp sites weren't as good either some little more than fancy lay-bys.
Went over the Snowy Mountains and played in the snow before arriving in Phillip Island for the Motorcycle Grand Prix just to the southeast of Melbourne. We stayed for the 3 days of practice, qualifying and racing. It was, quite frankly, chuffing freezing, it was blowing a gale and hailing sometimes. Heavy drinking and setting fire to stuff seemed to be the only way to get through it all.
An entirely predictable result to the racing (same bloke dominated the event that had done so at the US Moto GP) allied to crushingly sycophantic commentary (aforementioned chap was Australian and had just become World Champion) meant that by the end of the weekend we were hungover, shattered and had had enough!
