The 26 hour bus journey from Vientiane to Hanoi was an experience to say the least. We'd heard horrific stories about these cramped uncomfortable busses.. In Vang Vieng we were due to do tubbing and kayaking, however we found out it wasn't the typing of tubbing we initially thought it was..(a bar crawl down a river in rubber rings) and because we only had a day in Vang Vieng we cancelled our original plan and went tubbing with the group of about 30 we knew and 140 others.. Before crossing the Thai border into Laos we stopped off the Chiang Rai and went to the white Buddhist temple which was by far the weirdest to date. Outside was a life size model of the predator alien and inside it had paintings is Spider-Man, batman, hello kitty and loads of other random ones... No idea what it had to do with Buddhism.
