Oktoberfest- Day 1
Im not sure why we thought drinking the night before Oktoberfest was a good idea but needless to say our day got started a little slower than it should have. We got up, ate, put our lederhosen on and headed off to biggest fair on earth.
None of us had ever seen so many people in one spot in our lives. 500 000 people packed shoulder to shoulder as far as you could see. Within minutes we all noticed that we were being pointed at, stared at and whispered about. Were still not totally sure why but our best guess is that our outfits went authentic leather German lederhosen. Who knows…
We walked around from tent to tent in search of a spot to sit and have a 1L stein of beer. No dice, everywhere was absolutely packed to the max with hundreds more people searching for a coveted seat. Annoyed with the busyness and the constant awkward mockery we decided that we would come back the next day, early and dressed normally.
Oktoberfest- Day 2
We got up bright and early and headed to the grounds. Most places opened at 10 so we planned on being there at 9. When we got there, we were pretty much the only ones there. Having the place to ourselves (minus a few old people) we hopped from tent to tent, trying the beers that each one had to offer. By early afternoon the place was jam packed again and we were right in the thick of things. 8 hours, too many steins and a few bratwurst sausages later we called it a day.
ps dan lost the camera so our pics are few...
We took off the next day, headed for Rudesheim, which is located on the Rhine river in the heart of wine country. No joke the average age of the people there had to be 60+. We sampled some wines, saw a few castles and took the scenic route (amazing views) to Brussels, Belgium. Got here safely and ready for a Belgian beer!!!
