I went to Bond University to wait for the bus, while there I got to meet all of the others going on the trip. The bus was late picking us up but it was really neat when it finally arrived. We had signed up for a weekend surfing trip with MojoSurf. The MojoSurf bus came and picked us up; it was very spacious and we got to watch some funny surfing movies. On the way we got to chat with our guide for the weekend; he was definitely a typical "surfer dude." We arrived at Spot X(the private beach that MojoSurf owned and had their camp on). When we arrived we got to split up into our cabins and then we all met back at the camp fire area where we sat for a while and listened to one of the camp counselors play guitar and sing. Then we went to bed. They go us up super early in the morning and we had a "surfer's breakfast" before we headed to surf school area where we went over some theory and safety rule for surfing. After going through the theory and rules we put on our wetsuits and picked up our boards(I got a 9ft.).We went down to the beach and practiced on the beach for a bit and then they sent us right out into the water. The waves were perfect and easy to ride. I stood up on the first try! The hardest part was catching the wave and paddling. It was also somewhat difficult to get back out after riding the waves in. After we finished surfing, we were all starving and we got to go in and have a good lunch at camp. After lunch we went into town and went to the Surf Legends Museum, where we got to meet one of the legends of surf in Australia. It was pretty neat and we got to see all sorts of surfboards old and new from around the world. Then we went back to Spot X and surfed for the rest of the afternoon, the waves were not as good so it was a bit harder to surf especially since I was already beat up and exhausted from the morning session. After we were done surfing we got to come back to camp and shower and then we had a big dinner bbq and sat around the camp fire all night again playing games and listening to music. The next morning they got us up not as early as the day before and we got to have breakfast. Then wee headed out and surfed for a bit. We came back into camp, had a quick lunch, and took off on the bus to spend the afternoon in Byron Bay. It took about 2 hours to get there and when we finally arrived I was exhausted. We went down to the Bay and water area took some pictures of it and the lighthouse and then just walked along the local shops. We eventually got really hungry so we grabbed a kebab(an Australian food that is kind of like a gyro) and sat down for a bit. I was sunburnt and super tired so I was glad when it was time to get back on the bus and make our way back to the Gold Coast. It was a great but exhausting weekend and I learned that I love surfing!
