Kya Travels
Woke up today at 5.30am, and got ready and headed down to reception where we were picked up by Peter, the bus driver for our tour to Fraser Island in a big 4WD bus. We were the first ones on, and we went into Tewantin, where we picked up about 7 other people, then headed out to Rainbow Beach, which was about an hour away, and we had a nap on the way there. When we got to Rainbow beach, Peter dropped us off at a rotunda by the beach and we had some tea and biscuits. While we were doing that he went and picked up four other people. Then we headed off to the ferry, and crossed over to Fraser Island. Once we were over, we drove along the beach for a bit, and then went inland, and it was a really bumpy ride! Because the roads were made of sand, they were in a pretty poor condition so we were bumping all over the place. Then we made our way inland to a place called Lake Mackenzie, which is a beautiful freshwater lake, which was so clear and nice, and we had a swim for almost an hour, and I found a bracelet in the water too. Then we had a BBQ lunch of vege burgers/steak & sausages and a whole heap of salads, and were visited by a hungry goanna. Then we went to a spot where we went for a walk through the rainforest along a small freshwater stream, for about half an hour, before getting back on the bus for a bumpy ride back to the beach, then we drove along the beach until we got back to where the ferrys were, and had some afternoon tea, of tea and lamingtons, and got back on the ferry. Back on the mainland we got back in the bus, and dropped off the people who were from Rainbow Beach. Then we drove down the beach all along these big sand cliffs that were made of all different colored sands, reds, oranges, yellows etc. It was really pretty. At one stage the beach was pretty much completely covered with fallen trees, so we had to go around them through the water and stuff, which was exciting. Then we stopped at a place called Red Canyon, which was more of the colored sands, where you could climb up and have a look. After that we headed back to Tewantin, and dropped everyone off, then we got dropped off in Noosaville. We looked around at some restaurants looking for tea, then went to a place called Sirocco, where we both got a tagine and some flatbread. It was okay, not the best meal we’ve had up here though. After that we walked back to the hotel via the petrol shop for ice cream. We got home, packed up our bags and watched some TV before going to bed.
