Nora the house owner took us to get a bus to Tyrona Park in the morning, we woke up to "vamos chicos!!" at the crack of dawn as the kids go to school at 5am and finish at 1pm because of the heat! They also had a guard dog which barked whenever there was movement outside, and a parrot which squawked every time the dog barked! Once we were on the bus to Tyrona Park we could laugh about the situation, and when we arrived at our hostel they said they wouldn't charge us for the night before. The hostel is really pretty with a nice garden area and outdoor swimming pool and our dorm is in a kind of wooden hut with a thatched roof. The entrance to the National Park is just down the road so the whole area is really green and picturesque.
By 9am it was already hot and humid, inside the National Park we were greeted by an iguana up a tree which we aren't sure if they are supposed to do! We walked through the rainforest for about 2 hours until we reached the first beach. There weren't many people around so it was nice and quiet and we saw monkeys, butterflies, lizards (different to the ones we had seen before - these were stripy and we saw a really bright turquoise and green one too!) and a massive trail of large ants carrying leaves, once we spotted it we realised it went back as far as we could see! The walk wasn't hard but we were sweating in the heat, the first beach you can't swim at so we carried on to Cabo San Juan, a beautiful beach and the one where most of the hostels, hammocks and restaurants are. We had lunch here and then relaxed on the beach and went in the sea, the water was so warm! For the journey back I went on horseback and Nathan walked as he didn't fancy the ride. I only arrived about 30minutes before him! It was a really nice trail back, when the guy with me realised I could ride he stopped at the next camp site and let me go off by myself! Luckily Feria (the horse) knew where he was going because I didn't! It was so peaceful as for most of the way I was the only one on the track, I didn't see any more wildlife but could hear loads of birds. Nathan had a good walk back and saw more brightly coloured lizards and rodent type animals which we had seen earlier but thought they were monkeys.
The hostel was lovely in the evening, there weren't many people there so we enjoyed the pool to ourselves and ate at the hostel's restaurant. We have started scoring our card games now, the loser buys the winner their dinner on the last night!
