Hello everyone - thank you for leaving messages for me!! *Love *
I am backdating this blog as I have been a bit slack, so I may have forgotten lots! After phuket we started to make our way to the islands and koh phangan for the full moon party on the 1st march. So we went to koh samui which is the beautiful beautiful island next door and spent 4days here to just chill out! We arrived to our new home for the next few days and a huge room which was lovely! We did have a few incidences with lizards and a cockroach in steves shorts when he put them on (and quickly got them off when he felt it on his bum!) haha!!
But anyway, the beach we are next to is beautiful, really nice and no stinging feelings in the water like we had in phuket - just lovely, clear and cool! Its also much les crowded and touristy too so much better! The part where we're staying is just a long strip of road with shops restaurants and bars all along either side, different to the other places we've been so far, nicer and less people hassling us (apart from people trying to make steve buy suits.)
We've spent most of our time trying to tan up a bit so lots of time on the beach playing frisbee and stuff, saw some traditional thai dancing in one of the restaurants we went to and played lots of pool for free in the bars around here.
We did an Island tour which was a bit weird to be honest but cool at the same time!
First we were taken to a viewpoint where you could see miles and miles of beach and the gorgeous surroundings. The to 'grandmother and grandfather rock' (this is where the weird stuff starts) These two rocks are supposed to look like male and female genitalia, we have pictures so you may judge for yourself! Then we went to a monkey sho0w where we saw how the monkeys help people get the coconuts down from the trees, then got to have a picture with it! We also got a free coconut drink- one of the ones the monkey had got down so that was cool!
The next weird thing we saw that I thought was a bit too weird was the body of a mumified monk still in a meditating position. Its in a glass box outside of a temple. I don't want to be disrespectful but is it just me or is that a bit weird? Although we did get blessed by a living monk who tapped us on the head with a stick and then put a braclet on our wrists for good luck! We went to a safari park kinda thing to see a waterfall that was there. We had quite a trek up to it which was a bit of a mission with flip flops on, when we got to it we were hoping to jump into a pool of water at the bottom, but there wasn't one really so a bit dissapointing! It was pretty though. After we hiked down again we were waiting around and there were loads of elephants (carrying people around) an I got to stroke one which I loved (as I do with all the animals I get to see!) I also saw a baby tiger that you could get your photo with, it was incredibly sweet but didn't seem to happy at being passed around so it was pretty sad!
The last place we went to had 2 huge buddha statues and a lovely temple all on the lake - very pretty! Although for some reason they have a board outside with loads of pictures of people that've been in moterbike accidents - wasn't very nice and definately put me off riding one! For a while anyway..
Koh samui is really beautiful and relaxing - and a good holiday place if you fancy thailand! Had a lovely time here! But full moon party next - fun times ahead!!
