What do you get when you cross the road?
A fine of $40 if the red man is present at the same time as a police man, opps luckily he just gave us caution. :-) (he wasnt a very nice police man he had sock pulled up to his knees and tight tight shorts!)
Ok so we're in Oz- and you can easily see why people move here- it so laid back and the weather is ace and well we like it (no worries mum and dad- we're still fly on not emigrating here!)
We landed in Cairns, and of course did the most touristy thing to do there- The great barrier reef- trying to snorkel with waves coming in to you breathing piece made it interesting- but we still got to see big bubba fish and lots of little ones too. and on our return journey we had a live concert from Elvis himself, (and got a free dinner!). We then headed on to Cape Tribulation- and our luck of free dinner wasnt a one off- we manage to be the VIPs on the bus and got a 5* Oz BBQ buffet (sweet!) and free entry to the wildlife sanctuary, and got to make friends with the kangaroos. Some walking in the rainforest and strolling along an empty beach- bliss
We stayed in the jungle and the following day got to go croc spotting- we saw Fat Albert (he was FAT- and huge and well I wouldnt like to cross him) and saw lots of birds too but the crocs were way more fun.
Back to Cairns for another free dinner (we seem to be doing well with our freebies!)
We picked up Bobby our beautiful campervan than got us down to brisbane in record time! we spent many a cosy night huddled up together because it was so cold at night and we didnt have a heater (yes our brains didnt tell us to just turn on the engine) or sleeping bags (mental note hire sleeping bags next time)
on route down we made a stop at the whitsundays- and booked on the most impressive sailing boat- maxi ragamuffin- she has won the sydney hobart race 3 times- and the skipper of those races was our skipper for the day- with planty of stories he entertained us throughout the day- and cooked our lunch whilst we went snorkelling (we didnt really do much sailing- we sunbathed as the crew stepped around us doing their thing!)
so with many KMs under our belt and plenty of road kill (spotting not killing) we made it to brisbane and said good bye to bobby (you never know bobby we may get to drive you to sydney if you behave in yard)
We explored brisbane and came across Budda birthday party on the south bank- a celebration with the chinese community there, with dance shows and chinese food what more could you want!(yes even after 8weeks in asia we still love rice!) . In the evening we went to a local rugby match- not a scratch on the welsh teams playing or the irish teams prettiness, or skill it is safe to say I think a northern hemisphere team will win the world cup 2011!
due to our relocation campervan we skipped out a few places on the way down so have now worked our way back up to rainbow beach and heading over to fraser island tomorrow and working our way down the coast to sydney, so hopefully more stories to tell later
Hope all is good at home
