Ecuador 2006
We made it to Tena, and it's even hotter here than in Puyo. There are about 30,000 people who live here. Its a small town and in a really beautiful area. The town is divided by the Tena River, there are stores on each side connected by a traffic bridge and one for pedestrians as well.
There is also a 0.25 sq kilometer island inbetween the Tena River and the Pano River which connects to the Tena river near our hostel.
Our hostel is great. We each have our own rooms that overlook the Pano River. We also have fans and cable TV! Such a contrast to our debri huts last week.
On the bus ride here one of the tires went flat and we had to stop and wait for the driver to change it. He used a jack smaller than Ive ever seen before, but it worked.... we made it here. The roads are similar (if not worse) to the roads along the coast -- made of dirt and gravel.
Today we plan to walk around town and hopefully go across to that island inbetween the 2 rivers which is like a park where we can walk around to see birds, monkeys, etc.
Only about one week left in Ecuador!
