Well, Kingston was definitely a city of rehabilitation...and boredom. There isn't a lot to do, except go to Queen's Univeristy campus, and the waterfront, which I did today. Not a lot happened in Kingston, so, I feel like one blog is good enough to cover the essence of the city. I got into the Kingston train station at about 2:30, and my heart almost stopped. You see, this entire trip, I've been going to bigger stations and we pass these little stations that look like they are in the middle of nowhere and I thank God I'm not getting off there. Well, yesterday, I got off at the middle of nowhere station. No walking for me. So, I finally got a cab after realizing that we're too far out of the way for cabs to come to us. The hotel was fine, I got a feeling I was in kind of a dodgy part of town, but I could be wrong because really, it's all I saw until I got to the campus. I treated last night as my rest night. I wanted to air out my bag and clothes because truth be told, they were getting a bit...pungent. And I read, and showered and watched the Republican National Convention and repacked my bag and slept. Oh man did I sleep. It was magical. I'm so glad I just relaxed. I think my feet were too because they definitely felt better today.
This morning I went to Queens. It's frosh week and today was something similar to the Info Fair at Western. It was really fun to see the campus really alive and busy.Just walked around, the campus was really beautiful. I loved how it was layed out and how many empty fields and open spaces there were. It really reminded me a lot of Western because of the tres lining the walkways and how close the campus was to a body of water. I walked around the campus quite a bit and just hung out, then I went to the park on the water and read my super nerdy book for a couple hours. This super nerdy book being the 9/11 Commission Report.
This rbings me to the last thing that happened in Kingston. My cab driver was the stupidest person I have encountered while being on this trip. My cab back to the middle of nowhere by the way. Somehow, we got on the subject of politics, and I already stating I am an Obama supporter, am actually enjoying this conversation. Until, as we pull into the station, and he says the democrats would ruin America. Ok, you have your opinion, but this is probably not the best statement to make when you're counting on receiving a tip from a vocal Democrat. I thought it was kind of funny...maybe only to me. Ok, onto Toronto!
