Even though we were based out of Fortaleza, I feel like I spent half of this leg of the trip in Cumbuco. This small little town was a hub of kite surfers and had super cool vibes. Less built up urban beach, and much more chill surfer town.
On the second day we did a day trip here were we took a buggy tour and got to do a skibunda slide and play in some lakes surrounded by desert like sand. Then we spent the afternoon on the beach hanging out.
Cumbuco is also known as Windtown because of the consistently strong winds on the water. As a result, it is a hot spot for windsurfing. Naturally, I wanted to try, so Guatavo (one of the travel companions) and I booked an intro course. So, we spent another three days in Cumbuco learning the basics. On my last day I managed to get up and ride across a lake and even attempt a transition. It was an awesome experience and a ton of fun. My eye balls got sun burnt, but it was totally worth it. I really hope to find somewhere that I can continue to learn back home.
Cumbuco was an awesome surprise addition to the tour. Once my eye balls heal, I will look back fondly on these few days.
