A 5-hour bus ride took us from Olympia to Greece's capital, Athens, on Wednesday. The next day we relaxed and recouped from multiple days of traveling, spent a lot of time on the internet, hand washed our laundry, and left the hostel only to buy ferry tickets to Santorini and to grab a bite to eat. My Greek salad simply did not compare to Mom's!
After we returned to our hostel after dinner, we met a girl sharing our room for the night. I noticed a southern American accent and asked where she was from. Her response: "Harrisonburg, Virginia." Our response: "No way! We both went to EMU!" She (Angela) and her friend (Alison), who walked into the room a minute later, both grew up in Harrisonburg and Alison just graduated from James Madison. In a matter of minutes we figured out that we had at least 15 mutual friends between us. Really, how small can this world get?
Today we did the sightseeing activities...the Acropolis, the Parthenon, Ancient Agora, and a LOT of temples...it got to the point where when you've seen one column, you've seen them all. We were ready to head to the next stop of the journey -- the island of Santorini!
