After a trip back to Hanoi we boarded our night bus to Hoi An and I've never had so much confusion simply getting on a bus. First we took a mini bus to a larger bus which took us to the night bus, which we then had to run for as it was nearly full to get a place and all this time we could see about 40 other travelers who were on the big bus that were all meant to be on our bus but because it was already full they just had to wait with all their luggage on the side of the street for an unspecified period of time. Lucky lucky us! I went straight to sleep and slept through the night unbelievably and arrived fine when we had our 6 hour stop at Hue. We were quite pleased actually despite being told we would arrive at 5am! And not 5pm which was when we eventually did arrive. We spent the day in hue looking around the old citadel which is currently being restored but with many parts open to the public so we walked around overgrown eerie ruined palaces with no other visitors. Hoi An is a town basically famous for tailor shops and cobblers so we did the necessary shopping and had 2 dresses, some books and Chris had a pair of shoes made! So by this point were both carrying only 35lt backpacks (tiny!!!!!! The smallest bags out of all the travelers we've seen) and were carrying 5 pairs of flip flops, shoes, 7 books and 2 fancy camera lenses! Quite ridiculous and we still have some extra room.
