We arrived in Koh Samui early evening last night after a long day of travelling by boat, bus and taxi. We checked into this really plush hotel which was recommended to us by some girls in Krabi. It was really nice, a lovely bathroom and balcony but we decided to only stay there one night as it was a little expensive in comparision to other places. This morning we wandered along the beach to find another place to stay and found a really nice hotel, massive room, clean and very friendly, so we booked up here for the next 3 nights. Today is Thai New Year and they have a festival called 'Songkran' which is basically a water festival. It is crazy, everywhere on the streets there are people with huge water pistols and buckets of water and you just get soaked - its like one big water fight! It goes on all day and night so think we will get a little wet tonight! Today we chilled on the beach, its lovely and there is a slight breeze which is a relief. Thanks for all your messages - we do apologise for getting so tanned, but just can't help it! Caroline is black!! Sylvia - don't worry we are sticking together and it does feel pretty safe here x
