We have just got back from the 2 day sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands (we both still feel like we are on the boat!!) It was great fun and the crew and other guests were all really friendly. We did about 3 or 4 snorkel trips and saw some great fish. I was a bit reluctant at first but soon got the hang of it. We had to wear stinger suits cus its jellyfish season at the mo and had to sign a declaration which included 'Would you be prepared to pay for helicopter costs to the nearest hospital?' (no wander I was weary!!) If you get stung by the box jellyfish you literally have an hour before you die to get to the hospital - nice!! Luckily, we only saw the not-so-deadly jellyfish and some amazing fish, all different colours and unusual looking. We also visited Whitehaven Beach which is rated as one of the top 10 beaches in the world - it was spectacular (even though the sun wasn't out that much).

So back at Airlie Beach now, which is a lovely place built arond the marina, it has its own man-made lagoon and plenty of bars, cafes etc all along a main strip. We are eaing out tonight and then we are off to Mission Beach in the morning, apparentely its the best place in Oz to skydive, so may stay there a few nights whilst I pluck up the courage!!
