Finally found some time to write this up while the boys are sanding the walls in the centre. So after a very long journey, I finally reached Bucharest in Romania at 4pm. The airport was pretty teeny and I had 3hrs to wait for the others, so I managed to find a little cafe. I ordered a fruit salad and took the only remaining seat opposite this dude who I got talking to. After a few minutes, I clarified that he was actually a pilot and spoke fab english, so we had a chat and he gave me some good tips on Romania. I soon realised that I was the scruffiest person in this bar/cafe and felt a bit underdressed. I then recieved the bill and was utterly shocked to find that my little plate of fruit cost a whopping 10euros! I was like- whaa! I politely handed over the dosh and sharply departed. Dan managed to find me at the entrance and we waited for the others. Could tell straight away he was a sound guy and he was very patient in waiting since the other's flight was a tad late. Finally we found them but their bags had been lost -typical! Dan offered to drive the 2hrs back and forward to pick up the bags the next day but we managed to get them delivered to the centre instead.
Dan drove us to Campina, the village where Open Hands is, and took us to the hotel he had arranged for us. It's pretty skanky but we're happy cause we hardly spend any time there- just time for a quick sleep before we're up and at it again in the morning. We then all headed out for pizza with Dan and his friend Ravi, where we discovered their humour was fantastic. One of their fave sports is car surfing and they play so many random yet innocent pranks. They just have a great way of keeping the banter flowing in their lives.
