hi all, in Vang Vieng now in Laos which is amazing!!!!
right to carry on from where we left off...we were in Pai which in north west of Thailand around the 29th of May i think??? Pai was relly good but all we really did was drink, lounge around at the communal pool and visit the mini cinema (which wasnt really a cinema just small rooms whith t.vs and they played what you liked fro the slightly limited selection!!). we did meet loads of cool people though (all of which were complete hippies!) and loevd it.
We had also decided to go to Laos which was quite ambitious as only 2 weeks remained in Asia but we thought we cud manage so after 3 days in Pai began the 3 day journey to Luang Prabang in Laos. we hopped on a 9 hour bus which took us to Chaing Cong which is at the border where we spent the night. we decided to go out in what looked like the only bar around and have a few beers...this was lucky as beer chaing was all they sold!!! and it was more of a wooden board with a few cushions on than a bar but when in Thailand!!!!! we were happily chilling with a few irish girls when Millie spotted the bigget cockroach in history!!! it was seriously the size of a small frog! so we made a dash baack to the safety of the smaller ones in our guest house...ah the little comforts you become acostom to!
we had decied to get the slow boat to Luang Prabang as the girlies (Kay meg ella & Loz) had reccommended it, girls...we will kill you later! 18 hours (spaced out into 2 days) on a barge near enough with 150 eventhough the capacity was 70!! luckily we were seated next to some vey amusing alcohoics which made the whole experience much more enjoyable. after the first day we stopped off in a little village called Pak Bang which conveniently has no electricity. They use generators until 10.30 but then your on your own!!! our guesthouse must have decided that we didnt want lighting, however, because we returned at 10 to a candle at the door.
the next day on the slow boat was much better, we met probably 100 wicked people and arrived ready to hit a bar a enjoy te famous beer Laos.
