have found an internet cafe!! have so much to stay really don't know where to start!!
well, we got here by bus which was mental! from singapore to johor, which is where you cross the border. we had to get off at imigration to leave singapore taking all our bags with us and q'd for ever!! although i did have a nice indian boy behind me keen on chatting/trying to stash something in my bag!! if he did i didn't get caught so alls well. we then got back on the busover the bridge connecting singapore and malaysia for about five minutes then had to get back off again to clear malaysian immigration. this was pretty much a free for all and by then my back was killing and my shoulders were red raw from the straps on my backpack.
SERIOUSLY who the hell in there right minds could think a back pack is a good idea! what is wrong with a nice wheelie suitcase??? makes so much more sense!!
when we finally cleared that we were mobbed by taxi touts and had to find the bus station again to get our bus up to there main station. from here we was hoping to catch a bus to mersing but they unfortunately was all booked up. not really surprising really as yesterday we tried to get a bus direct from singapore. so we had to choices, stay in johor and probally get mugged or taxi it up. whilst we was making this decision a lovely young boy came over and found us a taxi ( i think they just see money when they look at us!! )
We beat them down to half the price, then felt a bit guilty when we realised it was a two hour taxi ride. ah well. we had an address in our guide book for omars backpacker hostel so went there on the offchance. wow, is all i can say. there is only two twins and one dorm (6beds) but its really clean and the owner is actually mental (in a good way) two girls who are staying next door let us in. they said omar told them to let people in if they want a bed. its really relaxed. then he came in a bit later an made us sit down to talk and showed us all his photo albums for his films (!) and his house in england, sounds like he has his fingers in a lot of pies. mostly being a right hand man. but he has got architect plans for a multi million pound hotel his buildin. he also does tours around the island and a trek in the jungle which we are so doing!! oh yea and he pioneered an idea like big brother but on a desert island for the swedish and is trying to sell it to the bbc, apparently joanna lumley loves it!! really not sure wether this guy is havin us on a bit!!
the two girls next door are swedish/african and they took us out to dinner where we had some kinda spicy fried rice with little tiny deep fried silver fish on top. surprisingly nice. salty?! we are so tired and dirty after our long day and think now we must sleep!!
tomorrow we are going to palua tioman, an island a two hour boat ride away. it looks gorgeous. they have giant turtiles and the biggest lizards you can get like 2metres!!
