Our last day here in Airlie Beach has come. Tomorrow we are on our way to Sri Lanka, and I am very excited about going to a new country!
The last ten days here in Airlie Beach have been quite relaxing. The first days were very nice and sunny, so I was working on my tan a little bit. Lying by the lagoon, while Bobby was doing his school stuff. He is now a qualified captain, by the way, he did it! Even though the town is called Airlie BEACH, there is no actual beach to speak of, or they have some beaches, but because of all the nasty animals in the water, you can't go swimming here. That is way they made a lagoon in town instead. It is pretty though, so I don't mind.
It is very hot, sticky and rainy here at the moment. Wet season usually starts around this time of year, and for the last days, it's been very wet and rainy. So I have had time to read a lot of books, that's for sure! We are staying at a house with a couple who are Bobby's friends, Rob and Rachel. They are very nice, and Rachel is 8 months pregnant, so we've had girl talks about babies and other girl things, hehe.
Packing up my backpack today, hoping it won't way more than 15 kg, coz that is my limit, I think it will be ok though. Today is Australia Day, which is like our May 17th, except they don't have many traditions here, they just get drunk. That is one thing that makes me a bit sad, they don't have the culture and traditions that we have in Norway and Europe. Anyways, going to a party a bit later on, everything happens during the day, so there will be barbecue and playing cricket.
Not getting too drunk, or staying out too late though, because we have to leave the house at around 8 am tomorrow morning. It will be a long trip, first from here to Melbourne, then to Perth, then to Singapore, then to Kuala Lumpur. This will take about 20 hours. Then we have a day in Kuala Lumpur, before flying out to Sri Lanka on Friday morning.
I'll try to update from Sri Lanka, I'm sure we'll get the internet somewhere there!
