Today was our last day in a new port, before starting the journey to go back to Fort Lauderdale. Our last stop was Puerto Limòn in Costa Rica. I had read that this port was not very exciting, and seeing as we had 8 hours here, we had booked a tour with the cruise line. We were very sceptical, seeing as the last tour was pretty bad!
So we got up early, and went on the tour at 8 am. First we went in a bus to the Tortuguero canals, which is also known as Costa Rica's Amazon. We got into a small boat and went down this river, in search of wildlife. We were quite lucky as we saw different lizards, birds, and some sloths hanging out in the trees. I loe tours like these, when you see the nature and the animals in their natural habitat. I was looking out for some crocodiles too, but didn't see any. I did actually see some yesterday, on the banks next to the Panama canal, but they were soo far away! Anyways, the boat trip was really great, and we saw lots.
Next up was an hours bus ride, and our guide talked the whole time, I know a lot about Costa Rica now! We got into a train, that went into the countryside for about an hour and a half. It was really cool, as the windows were open, and I could just sit and have my head out the window the whole time. We even stopped along the way because we saw some monkeys jumping around in the trees out there in the middle of the jungle! Ater getting of the train, we stopped at a banana plantation, as most of the bananas we eat at home come from this area of the world, and especially Costa Rica. We are very happy with this tour, which was good, as we were so disappointed last time! A very good day!
After we got back to port, we had a quick look around the port area, but they were only selling souvenirs there. The whole area was fenced in, so we couldn't even get out! I really got a taste o Central-America today, and I want to see more, but it kinda scares me that they fence us in, because it is dangerous for us to walk around in the city!
As most other days so far on the trip, the weather is only so-so...sadly! No Caribbean sunny paradise for us..... So after we got back to the ship again, we went to the movies and watched «The adjustment bureau». Now it is soon dinner-time, and I think go to bed early. We are now 2 hours behind what we just got used to in Florida, and tomorrow we need to turn the clocks two hours forward again. So no point getting used to this new timezone, as we hae to get back to the old one before we know it!
The next two days will be two days at sea, before we dock up at Fort Lauderdale again on Friday morning. I am really really hoping we will be lucky and get some sun these two last days, or it will be two guite long and boring days!
