Today was a really enjoyable, relaxed day. We went to the Tung Choi Street Market (AKA Ladies Market) and did some bargain hunting. I managed to buy a few tops and a gorgeous handbag (v happy about that). The ladies were rather 'forceful' and one just wouldnt physically let me out of her stall! Later that evening we went to meet Nobby's wife norie at Fortress Hill station on Hong Kong Island. (After getting the meeting place wrong we finally met up!) It was great...

Today, we decided to take a trip to see the big Buddha in Asia in Teung Cheung. It was an absolutley magnificent sight; so so huge. I was shocked when I turned around to see it. He was so high up that sometimes you couldnt see him as he was covered by clouds. I took loads of what I hope will be stunning photos of him and the hundreds of steps leading up to it! Also here there were other little places of worship, one where we "bathed the buddha" an act to rid ones...

Unfortunately my body's getting rather sick of rice and noodles and I woke up this morning with an awful stomach ache! Lasts nights meal has given me food poisoning. However I drugged myself up on paracetamol and banana (the only thing I can eat at the moment!) and didnt let in get in the way! We met Dad's wonderful friend Nobihuko (plus his wife, daughter and sister in law) today and he took us to the most amazing restaurant called sweet dynasty on Canton Road. ...

Today we were knackered as we still cant get to sleep until 4 in the morning! We had fruit for brekkie this morning as I just cannot face noodles in soy sauce! We headed up towards the 10,000 Buddha's monestry in Sha Tin (getting STARED at by weird old men of the tube - not that different to London I suppose!) and trekked it up 400 steps; (NOT funny in v v humid heat), and saw the most amazing things. This place had 12,400 Buddha's, all striking a different pose ...

Hi! Well, first journal entry... Hong Kong is a very cool place. Lots of very very tall buildings (like 20 floors which everyone lives in) which are surrounded by mountains and greenery. We went out briefly last night and had a look around - checked out all the huge bright lights, which make it look uber funky (just like the postcards hehe...) and had dinner in a tiny little eatery.
