Vietnam has to be the rainiest country in the world...I know we're travelling in rainy season but this is the only country that has really rubbed it in!
Mui Ne is a very pretty, up-and-coming beach resort.... probably fantastic in summer but not great in torrential rain! We found a nice guest house right on the beach with a pool and, determined to get use out of it despite no sunshine, swam in the rain. We also found a gorgeous bar/ restaurant overlooking the beach and adorned in chinese silk lanterns....and were nearly blown off the terrace and out to sea by a sudden storm and then got drenched to the bone walking back to the guest house! However we weren't quite as unfortunate as a Scottish guy we got chatting to...he also had his dinner interrupted by the gales and got drenched but had the added indignity of his chair collapsing under him...much to the amusement of the staff!
Between rainstorms we did manage to do a jeep safari of the nearby sand-dunes and had a go at sand-boarding. Excellent fun and most amusing (for Mark) to watch Kim going down the slope for the final time with our bags piled on top of her like a pack horse, screaching her head off. The local girl helping us thought it was hysterical! We ended the trip by randomly wading barefoot 1km up a river to see the 'fairy spring' - where the river has eroded the rocks into multi-coloured shapes.
We would have liked to have stayed longer but the time and the weather drove us onwards...
