Hy guys, how are you all doing?
We left you in Queenstown and since then have headed North East, starting with Lake Tekapo. A huge stunning lake surrounded by mountains. We did a heart pounding walk up Mount John and realised we've got less fit, b*****.
We then went to Christchurch which is a very English city, a bit like Oxford. The only difference being that on this occasion it was full of Iron Maiden fans who were in town for a concert. It took me a while to convince Lacey that not all meat heads ripped the heads off bats etc and it would be safe to sleep in the same town as them. The town itself was awesome though.
When then went to Renwick and Blenheim where we spent an hilarious day cycling around all the winiery's in a 20km radius, sampling there fine wines as we went. Started slightly badly when we arrived at the first one, 4km away to discover I had a flat so had to cycle all the way back and start again. It was still a great day and we may have even been converted to the odd white even a rose no less. We managed to get back in one piece, even better news.
We then retraced our steps and went back down to Kaikoura, where we had been told by everyone was the place to swim with dolphiins, hundreds of them no less. So at 5.30am we rocked up, donned on our wet suits and headed out on possibly the roughest sea we have been on to date. Armed with travel sick tablets, travel bands as well Hattie braved the rough sea. Awesomely not being sick once, unlike the poor woman next to us who vomited from the minute the boat left the shore. We travelled 45mins one way, seeing not a bloody thing whilst listening to our guide telling us it was a marine life haven. Really!!!!! Anyway by the tinme we have travelled that far they decided it was to rough for us to swim anyway, turned the boat around, into the tide and we headed back to shore (woman still puking) for another 45minute super rocky trip.
One refund and cooked breakfast later, we felt we deserved a treat, we headed to Picton to get the ferry back to the North Island. This was the exciting day we heard that Hattie was an aunty again to little Charlie. Well done Ru and Laura, nice work.
On Sunday we, again at 5.30am, caught the ferry back to Wellington and headed to Napier, where we still are. It's a beautiful art deco place and for the first time in weeks the sun is shining, bonus.
Right thats us, hope you're all well and we will update again soon. It's only taken us 7 months to get this sorted.
Lots of love us xx
