Hello there!!! Here's a little story about our travels from Sydney to Melbourne via The Red centre!!
Wow... will always remember our first sightings of the Sydney Harbour bridge & Opera house- the views were amazing from the Circular Quays......... Both at night and day the views look as good as all the shots which are always shown on TV.
We toured the Opera House on our first day in the city- the architecture was well impressive!! Monday was an early start as we opted for the 0830am Bridge Climb!! Glad we did as it was 28 degrees when we got to the top! Both Rob & I looked very sexy in our all in one grey boiler suits! (Rob wanted me to wear a cat suit?!)... The climb itself was most tiring for myself... you know the old knees!!! Rob was like Spiderman! Botanical gardens were beautiful.. the panoramic views of the Bridge & Opera House were fab! We went on a tour to the Blue Mountains which was wonderful.... lots to see & do in Sydney! Oh!- as loyal as we are we stayed up (in a pub) & watched the Rugby Final.. left pub at 7am -rather tired allday Sun......! Darling Harbour at night was fantastic.. lots of bars, restaurants & people!!
We left Sydney on Thursday & flew to Ayres Rock. On that night we witnessed the sunset at Uluru ( the Rock itself). It was beautiful! The National park which Ayres Rock stands in is so barron.. until you actually visit you cannot imagine! The next morning we were up at 0330am to view the Sunrise at the rock! Not as impressive as Sunset but still quite sereal! We had a cultural walk round the base of the Rock... which was good! Oz is soo big........the Rock itself is over 1000 miles from Sydney/Melbourne etc.We moved on to Kings Canyon the following day... we were up early again 0530am & started a 3.5 hr climb/walk across the Ridge of the Canyon ( impressed eh?!). We arrived in Alice springs on Saturday night & as some of you saw... went to Bojangles!! Thanks for the drinks guys!!!!
Arrived in Melbourne Sunday night and have chilled out the last day or so catching up on R&R! (The self contained apartment is more home from home than the last few Desert Huts) Not sure if we'll be converted after tonight but thought we'd give 'The Phantom of the Opera' a go tonight.......watch this space. At least we can say we saw it in Melbourne!
Weather not so good in Melbourne compared to The northern Terr. ( 40 degrees at times there)... cardi's on today!!!!!
Heading for the Great Ocean Road tomo.... further fab sites to see no doubt... followed by our visit to Rob's old work mate Tony 'Dingo' Arnett who emigrated 3 years ago... happy days!!!
Will love & leave you until another day! Piccies next time.... Love to you all..
Kel & Rob! xxx
