And so to Hong Kong!
We last said hello from Shanghai where we spent over a week walking round the alleyways, trying crazy foods and having a ball. We have been travelling since then with an english couple who are as mad as we are! We went to Hangzhou, a small city outside shanghai that had a beautiful lake (that we walked right round!), cheap jazz bars and a groovy hostel. Spent a miserable night when we first arrived trying to find a bed - took until 11pm that night - it was raining and cold. Not fun!
From Hangzhou we headed south west to the countryside where we have just spent a week hopping from village to village. Staying in little back street houses that have a spare room and flagging down passing trucks to hitch a lift. The best find was a little village called Likeang. Hidden at the end of a dirt track lies the little riverside village with a population of no more than 100. There were a lot of visitors, mainly art students painting. We were the only westerners and what a spectical we were! Our last full day in that little paradise we spent swimming in the river (up stream in the mountains!) having a picnic and walking through the hills - just wonderful fun with the four of us in the sunshine. As that last day came to a close and the sun was setting over the village, kezz took me on to the bridge that connects the two rows of houses either side of the river and he asked me to marry him! I said yes. We celebrated with a huge banquet of local food and copious amounts of rice wine!
We left that little village two days ago and we've been travelling every since - four buses, one truck, one train, several taxis and a lot of walking. We have finally arrived in Hong Kong. Going to sleep now for a few days then explore!
Hope everyone is well and we miss you all lots
Photos coming soon - promise!
