At Bangkok airport for our internal flight to the north of Thailand.
Spent yesterday visiting the main sites in Bangkok including the Royal Palace, a trip down the river and a museum showing the gifts which had been given to the King and Queen.
Oh and of course the obligatory gem factory(did not buy anything)
The museum had fantastic gifts mainly made out of gold and beet wing - yes I said beetle. To be auspicious the beetle has to die naturally then they remove the wing which has a green sheen and inlay it into the gold. Some excellent teak carvings which put our bar at home to shame and silk screens.
The boat ride on the river was refreshing as the temp is over 30C and it was interesting to get out of the city and see the local houses. We could see where the water had risen to last year well over the windows of the houses and about 4 feet higher than it is now.
Had lunch in a local noodle cafe which was delicious and the fastest food I have seen. Noodles, vegetablei had the spiciest dish s and tofu dunked into boiling water for about 30 seconds and then into the plate. We had chilli on the table to add. I added half a teaspoon but still found I had the spiciest dish I had had for a long time.
Must go now as theywill be calling out flight soon.
