Kevin and Joannie on tour
The guide books don't say much about Malargue and now we know why. It's a simple town, a few blocks deep, along the Ruta 40. On New Year's day, pretty much everything was closed apart from ice cream parlours vending fizzy drinks (not Champagne). The owner of the apartments where we are staying didn't seem to understand that today we only wanted to mooch about.
We found a Panaderia open and bought bread, croissants, water and beer.
Back at the apartment the owner urged us to have a siesta but we explained that we are English and like mad dogs, we go out in the midday sun.
The place is mainly is annex to the ski resorts nearby. There's a park with a couple of dinosaur models and the convention centre (closed).
Sometimes on holiday its nice to see the little things, like other peoples lives. However there are few pubs but plenty of open ice cream parlours? What's that about?
In the middle of the town there is the Plaza San Martin complete with statue.
Later on, the streets livened up and we ate a terrible meal of melted infarction-inducing cheese, cold frites and over-Soy Sauced veggies. Still we were happy and that is all that matters.
