From Pimba we drove to Port Augusta - Hello Civilisation!!! It was cold, and wet....something we hadn't experienced for a while! So we left fairly quickly and continued south to Port Germaine. Here we were confused by their claim of having "the longest wooden jetty in Australia" because we had visited "the longest wooden jetty in Australia" a few years ago at Busselton in WA! After some quick Googling we decided that South Australians were petty little nit-pickers who were trying to claim the title on a technicality. It was then onto Port Pirie for the night where we experienced gale force winds that rocked the bus as we laid in bed. It was a bit scary but eventually subsided and then today we had hail storms to contend with!!! I guess it's good we have 2 weeks to acclimatize for Tassie weather!
Today we have driven through the beautiful Clare Valley which is full of farmland and vineyards. We stopped for lunch in the town of Clare and then visited the Sevenhills Cellar winery, the oldest vineyard in the region established in 1851 which has some of the oldest vines in the world. This was a lovely spot (even on a cold, wet day) so we had a little walk around the grounds and saw the underground cellar. We aren't great wine buffs but we could appreciate the history of the property! It was then on to Kapunda as our camp spot for the night. There is apparently lots to do (according to the guy at the Visitors Centre!) in Kapunda, but we like it because it's fun to say. Kapunda, Kapunda, Kapunda!!!
