The drive back to Coober Pedy from Alice Springs was pretty boring, but we tried a variation on an old game to entertain us. Instead of "spot the emu" or "spot the goat", we played "spot the desert pea". Unfortunately there was only one patch of them, about 70kms north of Marla. So that game didn't last very long. We stopped overnight at Marryat Creek rest area again and met some nice people from Kingston in South Australia who we might catch up with again later. Then onto Coober Pedy where we toured through Toms Working Opal Mine (something we didn't get to do the first time we were there). That was an interesting stop, and of course Kent did some more noodling for opal. We stayed the night in a designated CMCA campground on the outskirts of town again a single mum traveling with her 2 kids and their Staffy X dog called Tinkerbell!!! We first saw them in Broken Hill, then spoke at Uluru. Her daughter loved playing with Callen and even took a photo before we left them again to get back on the road.
