Kennington to Cape Town
ROCK ART OR PRIMARY SCHOOL GRAFFITI?!
On the road back to the Caprivi Strip we stopped off to view the Neolithic rock art found at the Tsodilo Hills. The area is a Unesco World Heritage site so we wondered what the paintings would like. The site is known for its' spiritual and cultural importance to the San people of the Kalahari Desert and was made famous by Laurence Van De Post in his book, the Bushmen of the Kalahari. In spite of the academic importance and cultural significance, we couldn't help likening the art to primary school graffiti. It was lovely to walk and climb in the hills and bushcamp as the sun set over the ancient site.
We managed to pick up two punctures from acacia thorns. We are quite pleased that we have only had five punctures in over 20,000 miles. It was time to leave Botswana and head back into Namibia where we plan to drive through Etosha National Park and then head up towards the Angolan border to the little-visited Kaokoland area. With so many awe-inspiring locations to see, it was difficult to know where to start.
