I cannot believe it's two weeks since I blogged! Here is Ken last Friday planting our tree at the Good Shepherd enviroment day. It was a good morning, kids acting a drama, singing etc. Needless to say school then closed at the end! We were again at the school for our Inservice event which then got cancelled but the Drama class with Fiona went ahead. Another great experience. The Tokaut Aids theatre group did a performance in the VSO office so you can actually see where we work when in the office. The group, 2 ladies and 4 men are brilliant and we've enjoyed having them around the hotel just to chat to. Then in the afternoon they did the performance in our local school and it was great. Last Friday we had really high winds and the thatched roof off the bar area just took off! Was a bit scarey actually and the damage was quite extensive. This is the time of really high winds and so we've seen some very rough seas in our little cove. The "breeze" is quite refreshing in the evenings!!

We understand that some of you have heard about the unrest within PNG. There have been a number of incidents but here in Madang they were quite minor. The market was closed for a week but has now re-opened. We were walking by the market on the Saturday when things were tense and saw lots of people running and so we quickened our pace and got on a PMV [mini bus] and stayed home. Lyn had been invited to open a training session in a village about 90 minutes from Madang. As Roger her husband was a little concerned about leaving her on her own I volunteered to accompany her. because of the unrest it was decided that we'd all stay together and go to all the schools after this opening.
