We are currently hanging out with our Brazilian friend Soney who we met in BA back in November. He invited us to come to his beach house on the ´Coast Azul´in Brazil, about an hour from Curtiba. Its a nice introduction to Brazil to be with a local and seeing some of the less tousity areas. Also great as we can try and pick up some basic Portugese as we only just about mastered basic Spanish now Brazil is a new ball game all together. The thing we still cant get over is to say hello you say ói´!!
The house was just a few blocks from the beach and most of the time the weather was hot, though it is rainy season in Brazil so we had quite a lot of rain, but when it did we just relaxed and chilled on the hammocks on his terrace reading our books or listening to trance (Soney happens to be a trance DJ too, so we were in our element with all the amazing music pumping 24/7). We had so many fun car rides with the tunes going and the three of us singing at the tops of our voices, so many great memories. We stayed here for 10 days and were spoilt as Soney was a great chef and we got to hang out in a local vacation spot and see sights backpackers wouldnt usually visit. The beaches were nice and we saw a lot of the area. One day we hung out at this cool waterfront beach bar called Bungalow, they had amazing cocktails and it was a sunny day, they had a special event on and Soney did a DJ set too so that was great to support him. That night we went to Porto Beach Fun nightclub on a nearby island, it was really nice. A large terrace like club with different floors, all overlooking the water and they even had a parking row where the rich people pulled up in their yachts! We met the owners of the radio station who held the event so they had a table with vodka etc so we had a free drinks which is always good! We spent a couple of nights at Soney´s friends house, Felipe, he was also a DJ and had a full turntable set up, and UV light so we had some drinks and made our own little trance rave, fun times!!
We loved being at the beach house, Soney is such a lovely guy, really looked after us and made us have a great time. It was nice for some down time too as we had been so busy travelling around and then partying in Buenos Aires it was nice to just relax! We were sad to leave the beach and the area, though we definitely wont miss the mozzies, we got covered!!! Every night we had a battle with the mozzies and just when we started to drift off to sleep thinking we had got them all, we would hear one buzz in our ear, it was so frustrating! But we had such a great time overall we didnt let it bother us, though we are probably scarred head to toe hehe!
Soney took us on an amzing detour on the way back to the city through the green hills with great views and beautiful flowers, we stopped for a quick Brazilian snack of a ´pastel´! Then we went to a travel agency of Soney´s friends to sort out our flights up north, we got a great deal and got flights from Sao Paulo to Salvador and Salvador back down to Rio all for cheaper than the bus (which would have taken 45 hours too!) We have an exciting month ahead of us!
