Long drive day heading towards South Africa. We are back on dirt roads and not sure how we forgot, but we all did forgot just how dirty we got when the truck is on dirt roads. The back of the truck is a constant dust storm and your eyes are constantly stinging. Eyelashes are just not extreme enough, I do think Oasis should consider giving us some googles for days like this.
Our day ended today with a visit to Dune 45 at Sesriem. It is a sand dune that is over 200m high and was very impressive. Driving in we all decided that being at the bottom was more than enough adventure and that we were far too depleted from our adventures at Spizkoppe to both climbing it. When we arrived, we couldn't help ourselves. Lungs and legs burning we battled up the ridge of the dune to the top. Of course we had to stop for a few photos on route, but that is to be expected when our bodies are not at their premium fitness levels. If we thought we were dirty before we got here - well this dune had news for us. By the time we left we had sand all over us, including all bits that were covered with clothes. The wind was up on the dune and the sand gave us a nice exfoliation at least.
