Another drive day, another day of reading, watching the country side slide past and generally try to find topics we have not yet covered in the past 14 weeks - sometimes gets a little trying.
Today we crossed into Namibia without incidence and for free which was a bonus. At 3pm the first shot was taken for Australia Day finally hitting in Australia - think it was the Eastern States. A number of shots then followed on an hourly basis as each State was deemed to be celebrating Australia Day without us. The Aussie donned their Australian clothing and streamers and balloons were blown to hang on the truck. As the third balloon flew out the back of the truck on the very strong wind whipping around the truck and the streamers looked rather flimsy in the wind we decided that we had a good 24 hours of celebrating so why rush the decorations. As it turns out we never did get around to fully decorating the truck - but we had fun regardless. I was on cook group tonight so decided to keep my drinking in check, as did Julie so that at least everyone could eat without us falling into the fire. Everyone else on the truck threw caution to the wind and got smashed.
At one point their was pressure to use the yet to be used sheewee. Inspiration hit and the sheewee turned into a beer bong. Was momentarily concerned that I was going to be peeing with 12 eyes watching, so thankfully had this moment of inspiration - although am sure it did not help anyone's drunken state
By 9pm a few people had spoken their mind a little too openly and others had gotten suitably annoyed that everyone was in their tent either passed out or hiding (that was me). It was a bush camp again so there was really nothing else to do with our time so no great loss.
Please note that I know Australia Day is 26 Jan, however we were celebrating in Australian time, hence it actually fell across the 25-26 for us.
