Well it is time to bid Ethiopia farewell. We have had a blast and loved the smiley happy locals. We started out in rolling lush green hills, moved to flat savannahs onto green lush farm lands, some rock scapes and then finished with a landscape that was mainly the thorny Acacia trees which were rather uncomfortable when you went to the loo and walked or squatted too close to the 5cm thorns.
Ethiopia was certainly a surprise and not the starving desolate landscape I had associated with a country I thought was starving and in extreme poverty. Instead I saw a country that was rich in agriculture, livestock and whilst there was certainly not a lot of wealth, everyone seemed to be fed and happy with their situation in life. Granted we did not see the whole country and I am sure that there are other areas where people are a lot worse off. This is certainly a country I would like to come back and explore in more depth. But I am sure that is the feeling that I will have on my entire trip as we are only scratching the surface of some countries and I find myself thinking - mmmm, if I had my own car I would definitely stop there.
