My time with the Dignams has been great. I have spent 6 days with them and I have basically been chilling, sleeping, eating, wondering around the town and enjoying the families company. They have all been lovely. Ruth and Paul are the parents, and they have 8 kids. I won't go into detail as I can't even remember but only Nathan, 16 and Kerryn, 19, live here now. The parents also had 3 Indonesian guys staying here who Nathan met on his school exchange and also a guy callesd Gerku is staying here. He is studying law but wants to learn English so has come here for about 8 months to learn. He is lovely but very quiet and keeps himself to himself really.
A quick summary of my few days here...
Wednesday morning I arrived at Adelaide airport! I took 2 buses and a 2 minute walk to get to the house from the airport. Ruth was just about to leave so gave me a quick tour of the house and left me to sleep. They are so trusting, she hardly knew me and yet let me stay in the house alone as soon as I arrived. I just helped around the house that day and lazed about!
On Thursday I spent the day wondering around the town and walking in the botanical gardens. It was very pleasant. Not too much to see really - it felt a bit like Oxford! But it was nice enough. I helped make the dinner.
I spent Friday chilling, chatting to Kerryn and her friend, finding a 'disney theme' party outfit in their massive dressing up wardrobe and then helping set up for Nathans 16's party that evening. Kerryn had invited a few of her friends to help out and be on the look out for alcohol, but everyone seemed very tame and were either chatting all night or dancing. It was a great night and all the kids made such an effort with the Disney theme, they looked great. Nathan was Johnny Depp, the mad-hatter - he actually looked really good because his girlfriend made him an awesome hat! He wore it all night, I was impressed.
Saturday Sunday 24 March involved chilling and going to my first Aussie BBQ! It was amazing so much food, drink, cakes...I think I ate a portion the size of an elephant I'm not kidding. I felt so stuffed by the time we left it really wasn't a nice feeling. They had too many cakes to choose from...banana, carrot, Victoria sponge, crispy cakes and even eat n mess cakes mum! Yes it was like heaven. After the bBQ we then came home and I helped cook dinner with Ruth. We had a musical jam session that evening as all the family are musical. They bought out a flute so i was playing that whilst Joel, the 21 year old brother played piano. Then the dad joined us on the guitar and then the Japanese guy called Gerku started beating away on the drum. It was lovely! J
Monday 25 March - Davina, packed and now I'm here just about to leave to meet the girls at 1pm for food shopping and to set off on our road trip!
This should be a good adventure. Hopefully I will be able to update when I arrive in Melbourne J
I have contact some friends there so I look forward to seeing them too! Yieeehaaa
Love you all xxx

Niamh Hills Gerku sounds like a real law student - keeping himself to himself - probably because they give him too much work! I CAN EMPATHISE! He he he! Love your blogs, keep them up! Still can't believe you took davina with you... xxx
