After a rather restless night and two flights later we arrived in the blistering heat of Kenya in the city of Mombassa.
We met Mama and Baba at the airport before starting the long journey back to Kwale where we'd be staying for one week.
We passed the locals houses and shops (read: shacks) en route to and from the ferry - all of which looked like they were falling to pieces. People carried buckets of waters, bags etc. on their head in the heat which was bad enough with a car breeze - eugh!
We arrived in the town of Kwale some 2-3 hours later and nothing had changed much since my last visit in 2011. The houses the same. The roads the same. The people the same.
After a brief rest to recoup some much needed sleep, we went for a brief stroll around the town before stopping for my favourite beer - a Tusker, albeit there was no power so it didn't have the desired cooling effect.
We heading home for pilau (rice) and chachumbari (salad) before an early night sleep with the mosquitoes.
Let the Kenyan adventure begin!
