J: We went to the mini Taj Mahal in Aurangabad which was impressive considering it was built for the blokes' wife or mother.... they aren't sure which lol. After we went around Ellora caves, these are temples and shrines cut into the mountain, 36 in total done over time by all different religions. They were truly impressive & beautiful, it's amazing to think how they would have done it all with such simple tools. Sam made me laugh as she didn't mind the bats flying around her head but didn't like the pitch black sanctums (rooms).
S: We visited a fort called Dalulatabad, which at one stage was the capital of India due to its strategic placing. The fort had over 800 steep steps which we decided to climb in 37 degree heat. In fairness even the taxi driver called us crazy, let's just say it was hot!!
We then cooled off and started thinking about dinner because we had a guide for the day; we hadn't seen much of the city. So we looked in good old Lonely Planet - we came up with Swad Veg Restaurant. So we headed towards it, via a main road. We got to the restaurant and you sat down and in front of you was a large metal tray with 6 little ones inside. All of a sudden there were 6 chefs all putting different curries in the pots, rotis, rice, salad, crispy nutty cereal, mango juice and a sweet cake doughnut with yogurt. Now I have to tell you, we had only gone out with about £6 in our pockets. Every time you emptied a small dish they filled it up. James loved it and I starting panicking about how much this was going to cost. I didn't really fancy becoming the owner's wife!! But it was delicious and so filling. And the final bill... £3.40, so if you are ever in Aurangabad you should go there.
J: What Sam skipped over there was that the walk to dinner was down a very very busy road with no lights or path and she wanted to turn back until a tuk-tuk driver with passengers made sure we were ok and assured us to keep walking, thanks to that guy we had a great meal!
S: we made plans to get to Ahmedabad via bus but hadn't booked the tickets yet. That was a slight saving grace, Mr K has had Delhi Belly!! So instead of going to the bus station we grabbed another hostel and on the ride in the Tuk tuk, Mr K was sick out of the side, I started to rub his back when the taxi driver joined in rubbing his back asking why hadn't James had breakfast?? Then he would have been ok lol?? So we spent the day chilling in a hostel and catching up reading and me playing nurse.
J: I thought Delhi belly was just the s***s.... I had more problems with the overheating, being sick and wanting to pass out more than anything else. Usually when I'm ill I just want to be at home, I decided it didn't matter where I was as long as I was with my wonderful wife looking after me.
