J: We split up the drive to Hoover Dam but got there too late to do the tour so we headed to the small town, found a randomly amazing bar that did a lot of its own brews and really tasty burgers. Then we parked up in the visitor's centre to Lake Mead for the night, obviously we shouldn't spend the night there but we would leave early before being detected. Morning came and we got woke up by the cleaner to the toilets. Then headed off to Hoover Dam, although I forgot I had my own knife in my pocket and as it's a government building they made me return it to the car.
S: Oh, and James forgot to tell you that Hoover Dam is protected by the military and again we had to answer questions and open up the car. I think James is secretly enjoying it and makes sure that I'm driving every time we go through an official building. We entered the Dam eventually and went into the engine room and saw how big the pipes are, to allow the flow of water through to create electricity. They designed the Dam to move slightly and it can withstand an 8.5 magnitude earthquake. We could walk inside the Dam and it was a strange feeling knowing water was all around you and being able to hear it.
J: Hoover Dam was really interesting and I didn't realise that it is the largest pure concrete structure in the world and they had to make it in a strange way of blocks and layers being cool dried, or the concrete would have taken over 200 years to set.
