The final leg home. Arrived in Auckland as the sun rose. Had to transfer the luggage for the Domestic flight but the tent had to be inspected by MPI so we were a minute too late to transfer the last two bags and had to walk them over to the domestic terminal. Not such a big deal except we were all pretty tired. Last flight to Christchurch then a shuttle to Dave and Em's for some lunch and to pick up the car. And finally the drive over the hill, with a stop at Lake Lyndon to play in the snow. A good reminder of how beautiful our country is, mountains covered in snow, broody hills, lush forest. So nice to arrive back to our little home and discover our neighbour had not only turned the hot water and heaters on, but also stocked the fridge with Sapporo beer and home-made sweets. We are truly lucky. Anyway, this is the end of the blog. We had a wonderful adventure, 780km of cycling in an amazing country, one of our best trips yet I reckon.
