We made our way to the bus station really early to get to this one day stopover as early as possible. Arrived at our home for the day, the mother of a friend of the mission pastor at Willows, and after being given the rundown we made our way down town. Took a trip around the harbour, didn't understand a word of the Spanish commentary but saw some stunning sights. Pelicans dive bombing the water, seagulls rising en masse from a jetty, two seals who used Pecks fish paste flavoured toothpaste that morning and posed quite willingly for a photo shoot before plunging off the buoy upon which they were sunning themselves. Saw the military ships, a cruise ship up close, and enjoyed the scintillating company of a miserable American lady who would have preferred to have been anywhere other than on the boat with her son and husband. We then took an interesting ride in what they call an elevator to the top of one of the hills and got a birds-eye view of the really pretty harbour city around a spectacular little bay. Had lunch in a street cafe/restaurant that could hold a maximum of about 20 patrons. The menu disappointed our chefling, but it was just good to be there and enjoy the ambience and company. We then walked through a market on our way home and Graeme found a store where he purchased a sim card for his old phone which Amber brought over for him. From there we caught a bus home, bought some ice cream and went to enjoy the sunset view from the balcony. We were honoured to have been given this beautiful day, with beautiful views and beautiful rest. Early to bed, to catch a 6h00 bus back to Santiago to catch our bus to Pucon.
