Was good to arrive finally after what felt like 3 days of travelling to north of Thailand in Chang Mai. The guest house was very busy with loads of hippy travellers, the room was so hot but i think its cos we were not used to the heat yetetc but it got bit better after a few days, we spent a day learning how to cook thai food which was really good. We had a bout 6 choices for 7 different courses to chose from and was really easy and tasty so that was good way to spemd the day. Next we spent 2 days trekking in the jungle which was a fantastic experience but bloody hard work. We went elephant riding first of all which was fun and a bit scary again....all those that remember the last elephant incident when me and Jon both fell off but we must have mastered our technique cos we both stayed on thsi time hoorah. After that we went trekking for 2 hours in the jungle relatively flat which was quite hard in the heat but manageable then the guide says next hour up hill, s***!!!!! It was well hard going up especially cos i seemed to be with a bloody marathon running group who never got out of breath and felt like a right loser but oh well got there ij the endafter a few diva fits ha ha. The view was of course amazing and well worth it, we stayed witha tribe in the mountain, had no eelctricity, toilet or shower just hole in the floor so it was challenging shall we say but manageable for 1 night. They served up a tasty meal of chicken potatoes and rice and we ang round the camp fire....sounds well cheesy but was good, then when we walked back down the next ay we stopped off at a huge waterfall which was great to have a shower in and then went white water rafting along the river so it was a very good 2 days. Went to the night market that night and got totally soaked in like a tropical down pour but was quite fun at the same time!! I was rewarded by my hard work climbing up and down the moutain with 3 nights in a hotel with air con and a pool yipee!!!!
