Hello,
Sorry I have not been on here much.
Its been hard to find the internet which isn't a million pounds per minute!!
Any way I have now finished my tour around the South Island.
I have to say the weather was a bit of a let down, but saw some amazing places and met a few good people along the way.
Nelson was nice.
I made friends with a German girl called Bettina.
Me, Bettina and John all decided to go to Abel Tasman which is an island about an hour away from Nelson.
We had to take a boat trip to the Island which took 20mins. It was funny as Bettina had boots on and we basically had to swim to the boat and all our clothes got wet!! Great stuff. I was more concerned about sharks though! When we arrived at Anchor beach I thought I had died and gone to heaven, it was sooooo lush!
There wasn't a soul on the beach and it just looked like paradise.
We had four hours to walk to the other side of the island to catch out bus so we got going right away.
We met a girl alone the way from Canada called Kelly and somehow lost John on the way.
We were marching and taking in the beautiful sights. I didn't do much talking as I need all the breath I could get. There were some steep hills I tell you……
It was nice to just wonder and take in the sights.
We came to this little cove too where we had to walk up to our waists to this deserted beach. It was so lovely and peaceful I really didn't wanna leave.
Any way we made it to our bus in time and we got back to Nelson about 5pm.
When we got back I decided to walk up to the "center" of New Zeland,on the way back I have no idea what I did, but I hurt my foot and was in some pain when I got back….boohoo!!
Franz Josef
When we were on the weather to Franz Josef the weather turned really rainy and windy. So much so the roads on the way to Franz Josef where closed.
Our driver Lisa called her boss and asked what she should do,and she got the word to carry on any way.
When we arrived there were a few bridges that looked like they could be over taken by the river any minute but we managed to go through.
Sadly though when we arrived everything was cancelled. I planned to do a Heli hike up the glacier even though my foot still hurt, I was going to suck it up.
I didn't want to just sit around the hostel doing nothing so decided to book myself to do quad biking. I was the most fun ever. Going through rivers and mud. Wow wee….we also got to see the glacier and some other great sights. It didn't matter it was raining and windy to this sport. Mum I want one! Thanks!!!
Queenstown
Again when I arrived it was horrible weather.
I was so tired from lack of sleep due to snorers in my room each night. I wanted to get a few mins kip when I got to my hostel. But no no a bunch of 19 yr olds were all playing drinking games to about 1 in the morning. I sound such an old lady, but honestly. I was so tired!!
When I finally got to bed one of the guys came back super early as he was wasted so instead of listening to snoring I got to listen to someone chucking up! Oh the joys of travelling……
Queens town is quite a happening place. The night life is allot better then anywhere else, so made friends with two girls on my bus called Jen and Kirsty and went for a few drinks with them. We were all in heaven when all the rugby Mauri guys came in one night…WAY out of my league, but also to cocky for my liking though!!
I was going to do a bungy jump here, but the weather was to much of a let down. So I will have to do it somewhere else now.
The last destination was Lake Tekapo-It was so amazing here. The weather was great! (at last) and the sights were lovely from our hostel.
I went for a horse ride around Mt John which was great..
I'm so looking forward to Patuna Farm now.
Travelling on the Ferry to Wellington tomorrow. I have a very early start from Christchurch.
Hope all is well in snowy England. Can't believe im missing out on all the fun!! Doh!!
Take care.
Kayls. xx
