well you will be pleased to know we made it to fiji after a very hectic day of travelling!
Our day began when the alarm went off at 6am, we showered and dressed before making our way down for our last breakfast (peanut butter on toast) we then checked out and had to walk to pick up our shuttle bus, we got on this before and we were taken to the terminal to board another bus whioch then took us to the airport! we checked in and had to ensure we checked our bags right through as we were boarding two flights! we waited for a hour before boarding the short flight to sydney! when we landed here we had to board another bus to take us to the correct terminal for an international flight! it was a race against the clock as we had ten minutes to get to the gate! we had to go through customs and get stamped out of australia and then send through security before a brisk jog through sydney airport (the most interesting airport we have seen and no time to look aorund) and making it to our gate as they were boarding! we boarded a air pacific plane and were greeted by very friendly fijians in very colourful shirts! we were sat right at the back of the plane and we settled into our seats! we had a releatively uneventful flight although there were a lot of kids that insisted on running around the plane after about 2 hours! when we landed in fiji we had to go through customs then collect our bag and go through quarentine and by the time we got out of the airport it was about 7pm. we got a taxi and had a short drive to our backpackers resort! we were greeted by very friendly fijian lasys who showed us to our very basic but suprisenly big room! we had a quick change (out the joggers and hoddies) definatly dont need those here and went down to reception to ask where the nearest cashpoint was as the one at the airport had not worked and we had no fijian dollars as we were unorgainised before we left and you needed to order these in! she informed us that there was one down the road but for our saftey it was best to get a taxi! we decided that we were hardcore after thailand and ignored this advice! luckily it was only 10 minute walk but the cashpoint was positioned right at the back of the shopping complex which was all shut for the night and there were lots of shifty caharcacters about! we made very quick transactions and hurried back to our hotel! we ate dinner here and then i somehow got persuaded to join in with the drinking of tropical root juice which made me feel very funny indeed!
we have had a lovely day by the pool today after our very simple complimentry breakfast of toast! with penaut butter though much to my delight!! and have been very dedicated to topping up our tans! hopefully we can continue to top them up over the next couple of days so were not quite so pale when we get home!!
