We said our goodbyes to Cuzco this morning and jumped on our TourPeru bus to Puno. It was an interesting 6 hour ride through rural Peru. We passed through a lot of small towns and so much farm land. It is amazing to see fields being turned either by hand or with 2 cows pulling a small plow. We saw a lot of sheep (don't worry, I didn't take any home with me), a lot of cows, and some wild dog packs.
We were seated in the front row of the upper level of a double-decker bus so we had a great view of all the scenery and crazy driving. Because of where we were sitting, it always looked like the driver was going to run over the small cars in front of us. Some of the highway we were traveling was unpaved, so the driver would drive in which ever lane was less bumpy and then have to yield to oncoming traffic! It sounds scarier than it is, and all in all, he was a very safe driver.
A senor on our bus presented his hostel to us at a good price and with free tranportation from the bus station so that is where we will lay our heads tonight. After checking in here, we bought our bus tickets to take us to La Paz, Bolivia tomorrow and then we headed to the market to buy fruit and bread for our bus ride tomorrow. We also had dinner near the main square here in Puno. The above picture is the only one we took today - celebrating being in Puno in the Plaza des Armas.
Peru has been amazing! Bring on Bolivia!
