Heading out from Angostura, we decided to make a nice big lunch to bring on the bus with us to prevent having to buy food at the bus station once we arrived in Puerto Montt, Chile. We made fried egg and cheese on baguette sandwiches and packed apples and oranges as snacks. Happy Halloween to all at home! We set off on our a hike a bit later than planned yesterday. We took a bus about 15km out of the city to a little ski town Cerro Catedral around 1pm and started our hike up to the Frey Refugio. In case anyone was ever wondering, 22 hours on a bus IS a long time. Our FlechaBus left Cordoba at 2pm Thursday and arrived in Bariloche, in the lake district of Argentina, at 12pm Friday. It was surprisingly not that bad (well, for me anyway, it passed by in a mostly gravol-fueled haze). They fed us too! Such a perk of the high-class Argentinian bus system.
